From the IT Desk to the Untamed Wild

We are Dhiman and Sukanya (Suku)—two IT professionals by day, and relentless nature seekers by choice. Navigating the demands of the tech world taught us the value of unplugging, leading us to trade our screens for the serenity of the outdoors. Whether we are trekking through the high-altitude trails of the Himalayas or listening to the crashing waves on the coastal stretches of Kanyakumari, our travels are about resetting and reconnecting. WanderingCouple was born from this shared need to document the raw, unfiltered beauty of the places we escape to.

The Technical Pursuit of the Perfect Frame

Our photography journey actually started long before we met. As school kids, we both had a knack for capturing the world through simple point-and-shoot cameras. By college, our passion had evolved, and in a perfect twist of fate, we independently bought the exact same first DSLR: the Canon 550D.

From there, our paths diverged slightly before coming together. Suku honed her skills in wildlife and birding by joining the DCP Kolkata chapter, developing the intense patience required for nature photography. Meanwhile, Dhiman gained hands-on experience with professional gear, mastering lighting and fast-paced environments using a Canon 5D Mark III during hobby wedding shoots with friends.

When we met and got married, our shared love for the craft became the foundation of our travels. We upgraded to a semi-pro Canon 80D, embarking on countless trips and capturing thousands of moments together. Recently, to truly do justice to our specific niche in macro and wildlife photography, we made a definitive leap to professional gear. Today, our shared loadout is built around the Canon R6 Mark III, paired with specialized glass including the EF 70-200mm f/4L, the RF 100mm f/2.8L for intricate macro details, and the massive RF 200-800mm f/6.3-9 to bring distant wildlife up close.

Two Photographers, One Adventure

Traveling as a couple when both people are dedicated photographers creates a fantastic dynamic. Because Suku has formal training in birding and Dhiman specializes in macro and technical setups, we complement each other in the field. We understand the unspoken rule of waiting hours in absolute silence for a subject to appear, and we share the same thrill when one of us nails the perfect frame. Together, we capture the complete story: the intense technical hunt for the shot, paired with the joy, unpredictability, and humor of exploring the wild side-by-side.
